McGovern Has Gone Too Far

McGovern Says Constitution is Wrong

Lamb Will Uphold Constitution

October 13, 2010 - Holliston, MA ...Tonight, Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for Congress in Massachusetts Third District, was shocked at Congressman James McGovern's words and his attitude toward the U.S. Constitution.

During the debate Congressman McGovern stated, "the Constitution is wrong," when questioned about campaign finance. Congressman McGovern does not seem to believe in the First Amendment-the freedom of speech.

"I am deeply troubled by the Congressman's statement. I don't think that Jim McGovern is smarter than our forefathers. I support the first amendment. In fact, I support all the amendments," said Lamb. "The first action a Congressman takes is an oath is to uphold the Constitution. This oath should not be taken lightly."

Lamb also criticized Congressman McGovern's desire for campaign finance reform which includes public financing. "He wants to take your tax dollars during a recession to buy lawn signs for politicians. That's crazy" said Lamb. "This is coming from an incumbent who took over $300,000 from lawyers, lobbyists, and health and insurance pacs and officials. Hypocrisy at its finest."

Lamb also found Congressman McGovern's metamorphoses into the jobs candidate humorous.

"It is too bad his record does not back up the rhetoric. He says he is for tax cuts, but he has a rating of zero from Americans for Tax Reform. He says he is pro-jobs, but he has a record of voting 65% of the time against pro-economic policies according the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Maybe if Congressman McGovern had actually voted like his phony election year rhetoric, there would not have been 2 major lay-offs in Worcester today," said Lamb.

Serious Season

Dear Fellow Frustrated Taxpayer,

Congressman McGovern says this is "silly season."

As you may have heard by now, during this week's debate he stated that "the Constitution is wrong." CLICK HERE TO WATCH To cover up his Freudian slip, McGovern is now on Facebook and liberal blogs saying it is "silly season."

Not only is the incumbent's statement about the Constitution wrong, but he also has the wrong season. This is serious season! This election will have serious consequences. It is not silly to challenge McGovern's views or record. And I don't see anything funny about his tenure in Congress which includes:

Does this sound funny or silly to you? Do major lay-offs in Worcester sound funny or silly to you? Does an unemployment rate of 14% in Fall River sound funny or silly to you?

This is serious season.

I'm not an insider. I'm not a politician. I'm not rich. I'm not a polished speaker. But I am determined to end the status quo in Washington. Will you help me? Click here. Congressman McGovern has the support of all the special interest groups, DC insiders, and lobbyists. Won't you please let me know that you take this election seriously by donating today? I cannot do it without you!

Lamb: McGovern's Record Costing US Jobs

Charles River Lab Closes Costing Shrewsbury 300 Jobs

95,000 Jobs Nationwide

October 14, 2010 - Holliston, MA ...Today, in front of Charles River Lab in Shrewsbury, Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for Congress in Massachusetts Third District, criticized Congressman James McGovern's record on jobs.

Marty Lamb and Supporters in front of Charles River Labs in Shrewsbury

"The incumbent says jobs are his top priority, but that is only rhetoric. It is his voting record that is costing us jobs. As a small business owner and the only candidate to sign a front of a paycheck, I know first-hand how difficult it is to grow a business and add new employees. As we have seen over the past year, more government spending is not the answer to reviving the economy," said Lamb.

Last week unemployment figures showed a loss of 95,000 jobs nationwide. Yesterday UMASS announced layoffs of 140 people while National Envelopes will be laying off 160 workers in Worcester. Earlier this year Charles River Lab started the process of closing their facility which has resulted in 300 jobs lost. On the other end of our district, Fall River has an unemployment rate of 14%.

"Congressman McGovern does not get it. When you increase taxes, mandates and regulations on the business community, they have less capital to invest and create jobs. Adding $787 billion to the national debt to hang signs is not the way to revive the economy and yesterday's local news proves it," said Lamb. "This is the McGovern recession."
"Last night Congressman McGovern said he has always been concerned about jobs. Really? This year he has not filed a bill to help the small business community. He votes against pro-economic policies 65% of the time according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce," said Lamb. "Congressman McGovern's tenure has been dominated with a deeper concern over Cuba and world hunger than creating jobs in the 3rd district. Just look at his record and the bills he files. Unlike Congressman McGovern, I am not running to be Congressman of the World just Congressman of the MA Third District. I will keep my focus here at home."

The Lamb plan for reviving the economy includes the following:

Here are some facts as to why Congressman McGovern should not be re-elected on November 2nd

Since taking office unemployment has drastically increased. Both Worcester and Fall River are experiencing double digit unemployment figures. Unfortunately, Congressman McGovern’s does not have a track record of supporting small business. Here are a few of McGovern’s ratings:

From the Boston Globe:

“The charging documents said Winn Companies executives directed Raffol to solicit contributions from the firm’s vendors to politicians who supported its projects, including the company’s efforts to win public subsidies for Columbus Center, which is struggling. Raffol’s lawyer, Douglas Brooks, said that under pressure to raise money, Raffol crossed the lime and concocted an elaborate scheme to secretly reimburse the contractors for their contributions.”
“The charges are an outgrowth of the federal corruption case against former state Senator Dianne Wilkerson, according to the charging document.” Winn Companies have had other problems over the years. In 1997, the developer agreed to pay $2.35 million to settle charges brought by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. HUD alleged that Winn falsified documents regarding payment of fees. In 2004, Winn Residential Limited had to pay for removal of lead paint from 10,400 apartments and a $105,000 civil penalty.

McGovern’s record also includes supporting in-state tuition breaks for illegal immigrants along with offering other incentives for people to break the law to come to the United States.
