Lamb Says, "McGovern Has Gone Too Far"

Lamb Sends Barf Bag Full of Acorns to McGovern's Office

Holliston, MA ...Today, September 21, 2010

Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for Congress in Massachusetts Third District, sent one of his barf bags full of acorns over to Congressman McGovern's office to make the point that this long term incumbent has gone too far.

"Are you sick of Congress barf bag" filled with acorns delivered to Congressman McGovern's Office

"People are sick over his vote to fund ACORN," said Lamb. "Failing to stop all federal funding for ACORN after being exposed for fraud shows you how extreme McGovern is and how he is so blinded by extreme partisanship."

Congressman James McGovern voted to keep funding this controversial group ACORN, Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, even after they were exposed for fraud and corruption. The incumbent voted against recommitting H.R. 3221 to the Education and Labor Committee with instruction that it be immediately reported back with language that would bar federal agreements from being entered into with ACORN.

This House vote came after a long list of numerous voter registration fraud convictions and the release of a video showing ACORN workers helping set up a child prostitution business (172 Democrats voted for recommitting).

"What sort of message does this send to our children? Fraud and corruption are ok, if you are politically connected? What ever happened to accountability?" questioned Lamb. "Voting to continue to fund ACORN is just one of many votes that proves McGovern has gone too far."

Moreover, McGovern also voted to block an amendment from being considered on the House floor that would prevent any funding for the Census Bureau being made available to ACORN and voted to block another amendment from being considered on the House floor that would prohibit funding in fiscal year 2010 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriates bill from being made available to ACORN.

Since 1994 ACORN has received $53 million in federal funding.

History of ACORN:

On a different campaign matter, last week Lamb proposed a $300,000 spending cap for the General Election. So far, McGovern has chosen to hide behind his war chest. It was reported on Tuesday of last week that McGovern failed to list himself as an incumbent on the ballot attempting to avoid being held accountable for his record.

"If his omission is not about fooling voters, then he should step up to the plate and put aside his war chest that has been growing for years," said Lamb.

Mr. Lamb graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in 1985 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College in 1982. He has an extensive background in real estate law, formerly with Adelson, Golden & Loria, P.C., Edward A. Sokoloff & Associates, and Lamb & Shaffer, P.C. and is currently with Lamb and Browne, P.C. He is a member of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts. An active participant in community affairs, Mr. Lamb sits on the Board of Directors of New England Region of United Synagogue and is a past president of Temple Beth Torah in Holliston. He has also served on the Holliston Elementary School Council and the Campaign for Holliston Schools. He resides in Holliston with Peri, his wife of 20 years, and his two teenage daughters Elissa and Simma.
