Lamb Criticizes McGovern's Failed Policies on Illegal Immigration
Lamb: "Failing to Enforce Our Laws Resulted in Taxpayers Supporting Aunt Zeituni for the Rest of her Life"
September 22, 2010 Holliston, MA...Today Marty Lamb, Republican candidate for Congress in Massachusetts Third District, criticized Congressman Jim McGovern's record on illegal immigration.
"McGovern supports the lawbreakers. I side with the law abiding taxpayers," said Lamb. "If we had enforced the two deportation orders, then Massachusetts taxpayers would not have to support Aunt Zeituni for the rest of her life. It bothers me that she was given taxpayer funded housing ahead of needy veterans. Failing to deal with the crisis of illegal immigration is a costly expense that our legal citizens just cannot afford."
Lamb is reacting to the Channel 4 interview with Zeituni Onyango where she talks about accepting state sponsored benefits.
Since being elected 14 years ago, McGovern has developed a dismal record on the issue of illegal immigration. He favors a path to citizenship which in another way of saying amnesty.
Here are some of the ratings he has received during his tenure:
Association |
Grade |
|---|---|
| U.S. Border Control | Zero |
| American Immigration Lawyers Association | 100% |
| Americans for Immigration Control | Zero |
| English First | F |
McGovern's record also includes supporting in-state tuition breaks for illegal immigrants along with offering other incentives for people to break the law to come to the United States.
"Taxpayers in the third district can count on me to stand up for them. I will not abandon them like McGovern has done over and over again," said Lamb. "Illegal immigrants are draining taxpayer resources that they are not entitled to."
Last spring Lamb released a seven point plan which includes the follow provisions:
- Ending the "Catch and Release" policy by making expedited removal of illegal aliens mandatory and to require the completion of the US-VISIT entry-exit system.
- Authorizing the deployment of the United States military along the border and building a permanent border.
- Mandating employer verification of worker eligibility to work in the United States and a stiffer punitive penalties for knowingly hiring illegal workers.
- Prohibiting illegal aliens from any access to Social Security benefits.
- Limiting birthright citizenship to the children of United States citizens and legal permanent residents.
- Withholding certain federal funds to states that allow illegal immigrants to get drivers' licenses.
- Ending all loopholes in federal laws that benefit illegal aliens and those who profit from their illegal presence in the United States.
